At Just a Little Step, we see individuals, couples, and families.  We specialize in identity issues, especially in regards to foster care and adoption, although this is not a requirement to work with us. We also see individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and overall life transitions

As a women of color, with immigrant parents, it is important that all parts of people's identity are respected and affirmed. All those with different backgrounds, religions, identities, and sexual orientation will be met with affirmation and care. 

Strength Based

'Allows for people to see themselves at their best in order to see their own value. This will allow those to move towards specific goals or achievements instead of constantly looking at the negatives.'

Intersectionality

'Acknowledges that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression and we must consider everything & anything that can marginalize people.

This includes parts of us that we can and cannot change.'

Motivational Interviewing

'A collaborative, goal orientated

method of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen an individual's motivation towards a specific goal.'
